- Warning: Spoilers ahead for the first seven episodes of “Love Is Blind” season 5.
- Uche and Aaliyah connected early on in the pods, but their relationship abruptly deteriorated.
- Here’s what we could uncover about the status of Uche and Aaliyah’s relationship today.
Seven episodes in, the drama on season 5 of “Love Is Blind” is shaping up to be one for the books.
Contestants Uche Okoroha and Aaliyah Cosby seemed like one of the season’s strongest potential matches. In the first few episodes, the two quickly connect in the pods and appear almost guaranteed for a marriage proposal.
But previous relationship drama — Aaliyah admitting that she once cheated on a past partner, and Uche later revealing that he once dated fellow contestant Lydia, Aaliyah’s friend and confidante — soon derails the couple.
After the latter admission, Aaliyah abruptly leaves the pods without saying goodbye to Uche. And while she and Uche later meet for a conversation outside of the pods, the two don’t really come to an agreement about their conflicts, and ultimately aren’t shown pursuing a relationship outside or within the “Love Is Blind” experiment.
Are Aaliyah and Uche still together today?

Based on the couple’s social media profiles and their tense onscreen breakup, the short answer appears to be no. However, it’s worth noting that Netflix dating show participants are typically encouraged to keep their social media interactions with their partners under wraps until the entire season, including the reunion episode, has aired in order to avoid “spoiling” viewers on the outcome of their relationship.
But as of writing, neither Aaliyah nor Uche follow one another on Instagram, although Uche does follow “Love Is Blind” cast members Stacy Snyder, Izzy Zapata, Chris Fox, Taylor Rue, and Jared Pierce. There appear to be no recent interactions between the two on Instagram as of September 2023. And during their in-person confrontation shown on “Love Is Blind” season 5 episode 7 “First Class Love,” Uche mentions that Aaliyah messaged him and then promptly blocked him after they both left the pods.
Additionally, neither Aaliyah nor Uche appear to have ever liked or commented on one another’s Instagram posts. And when viewed by Insider, Uche’s Venmo “friends” list — which can autopopulate with a user’s phone contacts if the user grants Venmo permission — didn’t include Aaliyah, although it did feature over 300 other Venmo users.
While they may just be keeping their relationship a total secret, the more likely answer seems to be that Uche and Aaliyah were never able to get past their hangups and reconnect outside of the pods, unlike fellow season 5 couple Johnie and Chris.
