The holiday season usually means one thing in music: festive hits blasting through playlists and streaming numbers climbing fast. But when it comes to P-pop, the question remains — who’s really winning the seasonal streaming race?
Looking at publicly available Spotify data for the Philippines, the picture is both clear and murky. BINI and SB19 continue to hold their positions as the top-streamed P-pop groups, boasting around 1.9 million monthly Spotify listeners each as of November 2025. These numbers reflect consistent popularity, but don’t tell the full story about holiday-specific surges.
BINI’s recent releases, like Paruparo in early November and their third studio album Flames dropping on November 20, 2025, could be driving spikes in streams. Meanwhile, SB19’s evergreen hits, particularly GENTO, continue to pull in strong numbers. However, public Spotify charts in the Philippines show that these songs don’t necessarily dominate the Top 200 daily charts in October and November — suggesting that while P-pop is popular, it’s not yet taking over the holiday playlist scene.
Holiday-themed P-pop tracks remain rare. BINI’s Cherry on Top has a “festive-present” vibe and is often highlighted as a seasonal favorite, but there’s no publicly available data confirming a massive December spike in streams.
What we can conclude is that P-pop’s growth is steady and undeniable, but the idea of a “Christmas showdown” is more narrative than streaming reality — at least for now. The genre’s popularity continues to rise year-round, and as more groups drop dedicated holiday tracks, we may finally see the numbers reflect the hype.
Until then, it seems the true holiday winners in streaming may still be mainstream OPM and international seasonal hits, with P-pop steadily climbing but not yet claiming the top spot.
