Sinuspinde nitong Huwebes ni Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Benhur Abalos ang aktibong bumbero na sangkot sa `lateral promotion for sale’ scam sa Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).
Kasabay nito, iniutos din ni Abalos ang masusing imbestigasyon laban sa suspek na si Fire Officer 1 Ramces Paul Benipayo, ng Muntinlupa Fire Station.
Si Benipayo ay inaresto matapos tumanggap ng P200,000 marked money mula sa kanyang kaklase na isang bumbero ng BFP mula sa Western Visayas, kapalit ng promosyon sa loob ng kagawaran.
Ang modus ni Benipayo ay kumbinsihin ang mga magiging biktima na bigyan siya ng pera kapalit ng promosyon dahil may mga `contacts’ umano siya sa BFP.
“I have been briefed on the case of FO1 Benipayo and I could say that what he did was unacceptable,” ayon kay Abalos.
