MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) announced on Thursday, May 15, that eligible government employees will begin receiving their midyear bonuses today.
This payout will also cover military and other uniformed services personnel.
DBM Secretary Amenah Pangandaman confirmed, “Simula ngayong araw, May 15, ay magsisimula na pong matanggap ng ating mga qualified government workers ang kanilang midyear bonus, na equivalent sa kanilang one month basic pay.”
(Starting today, May 15, qualified government workers will begin getting their midyear bonuses, which is equivalent to their one-month basic pay.)
In the 2025 national budget, the government earmarked a total of P63.69 billion for the midyear bonuses. Out of this amount, P16.108 billion has been designated specifically for military and uniformed personnel.
To ensure timely disbursement, the DBM released the necessary funds to agencies as early as January. Pangandaman also appealed to government offices and local government units to ensure that the bonuses are distributed promptly.
Under DBM Budget Circular 2017-2, employees eligible to receive the midyear bonus are those who have rendered at least four months of service from July 1 of the previous year up to May 15 of the current year. They must also have earned satisfactory performance ratings during the relevant evaluation periods.
The bonus applies to employees across all branches of government: executive, legislative, and judiciary. It also includes constitutional commissions, state universities and colleges, government-owned and -controlled corporations under the compensation system, and eligible local government units.
Uniformed personnel entitled to receive bonuses include members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines under the Department of National Defense, as well as uniformed members of the Philippine National Police, Philippine Public Safety College, Bureau of Fire Protection, and Bureau of Jail Management and Penology under the Department of the Interior and Local Government. Personnel from the Philippine Coast Guard under the Department of Transportation and the National Mapping and Resource Information Authority under the Department of Environment and Natural Resources are also covered.
Pangandaman reminded government workers to manage their finances wisely, advising them to spend responsibly. She said it’s important to budget their bonuses carefully.
