[the_ad id="34231"]

In the Philippines, understanding how to compute your pay for different holidays is essential for ensuring you are fairly compensated. The calculation depends heavily on the type of holiday and whether it falls on your regular rest day.

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) uses the following standard formulas for 2026. For these examples, let’s assume a Daily Rate of ₱1,000 (Hourly Rate of ₱125).

1. Regular Holidays

Examples: New Year’s Day, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Eid’l Fitr.

What if I was absent the day before a Regular Holiday?

Under DOLE rules, to be entitled to the 100% unworked pay for a Regular Holiday, you must be present or on paid leave on the workday immediately preceding the holiday. If you were on leave without pay on the day before, you might not receive the 100% pay if you don’t work on the holiday itself.

Does “No Work, No Pay” apply to all holidays?

No. The “No Work, No Pay” principle generally applies only to Special Non-Working Days. For Regular Holidays, you are entitled to your daily wage even if you don’t work, provided you meet the attendance requirement mentioned above.

How do I compute my pay if I work on my rest day, which is also a holiday?

If it’s a Regular Holiday falling on your rest day, you get 260% of your daily wage for the first 8 hours. If it’s a Special Non-Working Day on your rest day, you get 150%.

Are monthly-paid employees entitled to holiday pay?

Yes. Both daily-paid and monthly-paid employees are entitled to holiday pay. For many monthly-paid employees, the holiday pay is already factored into their monthly salary calculation, but they are still entitled to the additional premium if they actually report for work.
