Data from Capstone-Intel Corporation, generated January 5–6, 2026 and reflecting Facebook activity throughout 2025, reveals the top topics that generated the most engagement nationwide, offering a snapshot of what mattered most to Filipinos online.
1. Cebu Crises and Community Heroism
Leading the list was Cebu, which recorded over 47 million interactions. The province faced earthquakes, Typhoon Tino, floods, and landslides, and Facebook became a space where tragedy, resilience, and heroism were widely shared. Viral posts documented dramatic rescues, damaged homes, and emotional recovery stories. Ordinary citizens—including nurses and teenagers—were celebrated as local heroes.
One of the most engaging stories came from DYHP RMN Cebu, featuring the rescue of Eimeilee Maningo’s pet dogs from a burning building in Mandaue, which generated 151,679 interactions. Segments from Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho highlighting Cebu and Danao families coping with trauma and loss also gained strong traction.
2. Holiday Celebrations and “Ber Months” Culture
Holiday-related content followed closely with nearly 42 million engagements. At the same time, celebratory posts were often mixed with concerns over rising prices, disaster threats, and uncertainty—reflecting how joy and anxiety frequently coexist in Filipino life.

Politics remained a major driver of engagement, with discussions around former President Rodrigo Duterte’s ICC case drawing over 31 million interactions. Facebook users closely followed legal updates, family statements, and reactions from both supporters and critics.
A high-engagement legal explainer by Atty. Dean Ralph Sarmiento, breaking down jurisdictional issues and possible outcomes of the case, quickly earned 180,875 interactions, underscoring public appetite for accessible legal analysis.

Social accountability emerged as another major theme, as alleged irregularities in DPWH flood control projects went viral, generating more than 27 million interactions. Senate hearings, protest posts, and citizen commentary amplified calls for transparency and anti-corruption measures.
Posts from major news outlets summarizing testimonies and identifying alleged conspirators in ghost or overpriced projects drew strong engagement. Coverage of an emotional courtroom moment involving Sarah Discaya during flood-control case proceedings garnered 174,156 interactions.
5. Earthquakes and Disaster Monitoring Nationwide
Beyond Cebu, natural disasters continued to dominate Facebook discussions, accumulating over 20 million interactions. PHIVOLCS advisories, news updates, and citizen-shot videos tracked seismic activity and damage across the country.

9. BINI and the Rise of P-pop
P-pop girl group BINI also recorded over 11 million engagements. Dance challenges, behind-the-scenes clips, and festival performances kept the group consistently trending, fueled by an active and enthusiastic fanbase.
Performance reels and trend-driven hashtags were widely reused by fans, while media coverage reinforced BINI’s status as the flagship P-pop act of the year, generating 58,334 interactions.
10. Basketball and Inspiring Sports Stories
Rounding out the list, basketball-related content drew nearly 6 million interactions. NBA highlights, Filipino-American prospects, Kobe Bryant tributes, and inspirational stories—such as one-armed player Hansel Emmanuel—combined sports fandom with emotional storytelling.
High-performing posts on Emmanuel’s signing and tribute content marking five years since the passing of Kobe and Gianna Bryant continued to resonate with Filipino audiences.
