Pinagbibitiw ni Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez si Office of Transport Security (OTS) Administrator at Undersecretary Ma.O Aplasca dahil sa pagkabigo na pigilan ang mga ilegal na ginagawa ng mga tauhan nito sa Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).
“I am advising the OTS chief: Submit your courtesy resignation before the House of Representatives tackle the budget of your office,” sabi ni Romualdez.
“Mag-resign ka na. Kung hindi ka magsa-submit ng resignation, ako mismo ang magba-block ng approval ng budget ng OTS,” dagdag pa nito.
Ginawa ni Romualdez ang pahayag matapos na mag-viral sa social media ang kuha ng CCTV sa isang babaeng security scanner ng OTS na lumunok umano sa $300 na ninakaw mula sa isang pasahero.
Sinabi ni Romualdez na dapat magbigay ng courtesy resignation si Aplasca alinsunod sa prinsipyo ng command responsibility na magbibigay daan sa pagpapatupad ng balasahan sa OTS.
“Naka-strike three na ang OTS chief. We are already fed up with these reports of stealing and other acts of wrongdoing at the airport, for which OTS officials and their DOTr supervisors are ultimately responsible. A top-to-bottom overhaul is needed,” sabi ni Romualdez.
“We cannot let these atrocious activities and other acts of misconduct at the airport to continue to take place. It’s bad for the country and the economy,” dagdag pa nito.
Una nang inirekomenda ni Romualdez noong Marso ang pagpapatupad ng balasahan sa OTS matapos na manakawan ng pera ang isang turista. Iminungkahi ng lider ng Kamara na alisin ang lahat ng tauhan ng OTS at ang payagan lamang na makabalik ay ang mga malilinis na kawani.
Aniya, nangako ang OTS at Department of Transportation (DOTr) na gagawa ng mga kinakailangang reporma.
“What have happened to those commitments? Where are the reforms?” Speaker tanong ni Romualdez.
Sinabi ni Romualdez na dapat bantayan ni DOTr Secretary Jaime Bautista ang kanyang bakuran dahil maaaring may sumasabotahe umano sa kanya.
“Every now and then, we hear of nefarious activities, aviation glitches, power equipment malfunctions and disruptions, and similar nasty things taking place at the airport. There may be people sabotaging him,” dagdag pa ng lider ng Kamara.
